About

History

Endanik was founded in 2019 to build AI-native companies: companies designed from the first line of code around what machine learning makes possible, rather than ones that add AI later.

Our first company launched that same year. Aimi, the AI Music Initiative, was built on patents we had filed on AI-generated music before that phrase meant anything. It spun out with its own founder and its own team, and it is still the template for how we work: an idea backed by foundational IP, proven with real customers, then given a company of its own. Strings and Implicit Media followed.

The longer version of why we build this way is in the manifesto.

Edward Balassanian

Founder and CEO

Edward Balassanian is a technologist, inventor, and serial entrepreneur with more than three decades of experience pioneering emerging technologies, building companies, and commercializing foundational intellectual property.

A graduate of the University of Washington, where he earned a degree in Computer Science with honors at age 19, Edward began his career at Microsoft, contributing to the Windows networking stack and developing the communications layer for WinPad, an early pen-based computing platform. His subsequent innovations spanned distributed operating systems, networking architectures, and foundational touch-interface technologies, including pinch, swipe, and zoom, years before these interactions became ubiquitous.

Throughout his career, Edward has developed an intellectual property portfolio approaching 200 patents across multiple industries, generating more than $60 million in licensing revenue. He has raised over $100 million in capital, personally hired hundreds of employees, and built and managed global teams. His operating experience encompasses the full lifecycle of technology companies, including hardware and software engineering, product development, sales, marketing, finance, legal, human resources, corporate transactions, and divestitures.

As founder and CEO of Endanik, Edward has established a venture-building platform focused on identifying transformative opportunities, developing proprietary technologies, and creating companies around defensible intellectual property. Endanik has incubated ventures across artificial intelligence, media, financial technology, and infrastructure, including Strings, Implicit Media, Aimi, and Haven, with multiple companies achieving meaningful commercial traction.

In 2019, Edward launched Aimi, an early pioneer in generative AI for music, developing proprietary technology and an extensive patent portfolio years before generative AI entered mainstream adoption. Aimi subsequently attracted significant institutional investment and established relationships with major enterprise partners.

Today, Edward continues to lead Endanik’s efforts to identify and develop foundational technologies capable of transforming large, underserved industries. His approach combines deep technical understanding, decades of operating experience, disciplined intellectual property development, and a demonstrated ability to translate ambitious ideas into commercial enterprises.
